Brushless vs/brushed

I'm still thinking about racing. Not sure what to do about my setup though. All the stuff I have is older brushed stuff. I do have a newer lipo pack but my only "good" motor is an old reedy 12t. Would a motor like that be able to keep up with the 5700kv brushless motors other guys are runnin in SC trucks?

Hey Greg some of us are running 17.5 and 13.5 motors.

I havn't been able to find out what the 13.5, 17.5 or whatever, means with a brushless motor? I thought the rotors on those motors are just solid? Didn't relize they had a wire wrap count to them?
